Liam McGrath appointed CEO Procentia Group

Procentia Group, the leading pensions software company, has today announced the appointment of Liam McGrath as Group CEO effective from 1 July succeeding Procentia founder Steven Donkin who will remain with the business as an Executive Director.

Suzannah Baker, currently Procentia’s Implementations Director, has been promoted to Chief Operating Officer.

Liam joined Procentia in August 2022 as Group Chief Operating Officer and has considerable experience in the pensions and financial services and software sectors with previous senior leadership roles at Equiniti, Personal Group, Royal Bank of Scotland and Advanced.

Established in 2002, Procentia has more than 25 clients including many household names and FTSE 100 companies, which it serves from offices in Bristol in the UK and Chicago in the USA. More than 2 million pension scheme members are administered on Procentia’s systems. It also supplies software to third party administrators, systems integrators, technology companies and other product providers.

Brightwell (formerly BT Pension Scheme Management) acquired a majority stake in Procentia in 2019 and since then the business has invested heavily in its technology, people and processes.

Commenting on his appointment, Liam McGrath said: “Since joining Procentia I’ve been hugely impressed by the team’s technical excellence, innovation and client care. I’m very much looking forward to leading the business through its next phase of growth and development as Group CEO.”

Steven Donkin, Executive Director, Procentia Group said: “Procentia has grown from the four of us who started the company 21 years ago to over 110 employees today. As the company continues to grow, I felt it was time to hand the CEO baton over to someone who has experience of running larger companies and could bring fresh ideas and energy, to take the company into its next exciting chapter.

“I’m pleased to continue working for Procentia in my new role as Executive Director and supporting Liam and the rest of the team as the company continues to thrive.”

Morten Nilsson, Non-Executive Chair, Procentia and CEO Brightwell said: “As one of the original founders of Procentia, Steve has been integral to the company’s growth and success. We are delighted that we are retaining his expertise and insight and I’d like to thank him for his huge contribution.

“Liam is the ideal successor for Steve and since joining he’s made a real difference. Someone with big company experience, but who values all the benefits of being a smaller company that Procentia has built its reputation on.”
